Burning Candles Puzzle
Difficulty Level

You are given two candles of equal size, which can burn 1 hour each. You have to measure 90 minutes with these candles.

Note: There is no scale or clock. Also you are given a lighter.

First light up the two ends of the 1st candle. When it will burn out, light up one end of the second candle. First candle takes 30 mins to burn out and second candle will take 60 mins.

So total (30 mins + 60 mins) = 90 mins

Light one candle and then extinguish the candle when it reach to the half size of the other candle. So the first candle has burn for 30 minutes then light the other full candle and wait till it burns out completely. that completes 60 minutes in this way one can measure 90 minutes.

I thought light up both at a time. And holding it in opposite side. When the mid point is reached one candle shut off and another continues burning.at the last to light up the another half candle...

light up the first candle, when it burns out light up second one.so second one will take 60 minutes, and first one will take 30 minutes.so 60+30 its 90 minutes.

light a candle and let it burn until half is over then light the second candle and let it burn it out completely you could light off the first candle after the 2nd is lighted on

When both the ends of the candle is lit how will it stand? Secondly if it is made to lie horizontally the burning time may change or it may get extinguished due to its molten wax pool.

Lay both the candles horizontally, anti parallel to eachother. Burn them simultaneously. When their flames coincide, blow off one of the candles, but let the other one burn to its full length. When that candle is exhausted, light the other half burnt candle, and wait for it to burn till its full length.

BURN ONE CANDLE FROM BOTH ENDS. IT WILL BURN IN 30 MINS. AS SOON AS IT IS ABOUT TO EXTINGUISH LIGHT THE OTHER CANDLE AND WAIT TILL IT EXTINGUISHES.

Burn first candle till half-(measure it with the unlighted one) which would be equivalent to 30 minutes, then start the second candle and burn it completely which will be 60 minutes.

fire the first one and let it finish till end once the first one is burnt entirely start fire on the second one but start from both side so that it takes half of the time(i.e 30 mins).so first one will take complete 60 mins and second will take 30 on adding both the time you get 90 mins. Thanks!
